What we do
Asians to the World Inc works in Orlando, Florida, serving about 300 families every month through these four programs — food, community, church, and learning.
Through our Hands to the Needy program, groceries reach families in Orlando who need them. It is the most direct thing we do, and it is where many people first meet us.
Food is also the front door to everything else. A family comes for a box, we get to know them, and along the way we learn what else would help.
Community organizing is where neighbors sit down together and name what their own blocks need — then decide, themselves, what to do about it.
Our role is to convene the conversation, to share what we know about how local decisions get made, and to stand with people when they speak up.
Small congregations carry a great deal of neighborhood life on very little. Our church development work walks alongside them, supporting pastors and lay leaders as they serve their own communities.
One of the congregations we are glad to be connected with is Rejoice Christian Fellowship.
Educational training and assistance is practical help with learning: tutoring and study help for students, and guidance for adults who want to move forward — in language, in work, in further study.
Part of this work is connected to Northstar University, and we are glad to point people there directly.
